The Mercury is a flat topped semi-hollow instrument, drawing from the classic hollow body era but streamlined with a comfortable, more manageable body size. We roll the rear body edges for maximum comfort, whilst retaining a sleek top with traditional binding and refined electrics and switching.
The Mercury is very well suited to Monty's PAFs, or head into less explored sonic territories with P90s or Firebird pickups - or one of each, wound to live together in a cohesive yet pallete-expanding pairing.
We strive to build guitars that feel like you've been playing them your whole life - your guitar should feel like an extension of you. We hand carve every neck to ensure all positions up the fretboard are effortlessly comfortable. Fret ends and neck edges are rolled for a vintage played-in feel. The lacquer on the back of the neck can be sanded to a thin sheen, and we can employ ageing techniques and checking to thin nitro lacquer coats on the body. All this comes together to achieve perfect balance of a vintage instrument with modern playability.
